Some loads simply don’t belong on shelves or pallets. Timber, pipes and tubes, steel bar and box section, extrusions, sheet materials, rolls of fabric or flooring, furniture and other long, awkward items all share the same problem: conventional shelving gets in the way. Cantilever shelving solves it. With load-bearing arms projecting from a central column and no front uprights to obstruct loading, items of almost any length can be stored, picked and replenished with ease — by hand at lower levels, or by forklift and side-loader on larger installations.
We supply and install cantilever systems from the same European manufacturer behind our Unirack shelving range, and the family covers the full spectrum of cantilever applications, from light-duty hand-loaded storage through to serious heavy-duty racking.
For light to medium duties, our boltless cantilever shelving follows the same philosophy as the rest of our range: modular components produced from high-tensile galvanised steel that assemble quickly without bolts, and adjust just as quickly when your stock profile changes. It’s the ideal solution for trade counters, merchants and stores handling lengths of pipe, conduit, trim and timber by hand.
For heavier work, we offer an innovative, patented heavy-duty cantilever system that redefines what cantilever racking can do. Box-section profiles are used for both the columns and the arms, delivering enhanced performance under load, and the columns are assembled using an exclusive patented riveting technology — welding and painting are eliminated entirely from the manufacturing process. The result is a fully galvanised, exceptionally durable system with a low environmental impact, built largely from roll-formed components for consistent quality and a highly competitive price.
Flexibility is built in. Columns are available in a variety of sizes up to 10 metres high, with arms offered in a range of standard sizes and repositionable on a 100mm connection pitch — so beam levels can be matched precisely to your products, and rearranged in minutes as they change. Systems can be configured single-sided against a wall or double-sided for back-to-back storage down a central aisle, and the galvanised finish makes the racking well suited to tougher environments such as builders’ yards and timber stores.
As with everything we supply, our design team will make sure you get the right system for the job. Tell us what you’re storing, how heavy it is, how long it is and how you handle it, and we’ll design a cantilever solution to suit — complete with free CAD drawings. Cantilever racking can also be integrated alongside [link: pallet racking] and Unirack [link: warehouse shelving] as part of a complete storage scheme.
Unirack Shelving can design and supply your cantilever shelving, or design, supply and install the complete system for you. Based in Nottingham, we’re a national company covering the whole of the UK, with qualified, competent installation teams based up and down the country.
