Long span shelving is the practical middle ground between light shelving and full pallet racking. Built for bulky, heavy items that are loaded by hand rather than by forklift. With wide clear spans and deep shelves, it gives you maximum storage in minimum floor space, without the cost or the lifting equipment that pallet racking demands.
Our long span shelving is the Metalsistem Unishelf system, supplied and installed by Unirack. It’s engineered from high-tensile, fully galvanised steel and built around 70mm box-section beams, so each shelf carries serious weight while the whole bay goes up boltless in a fraction of the time of traditional racking.
Why choose long span shelving?
Long span shelving is ideal wherever you’re storing items that are too big or too heavy for standard shelving but don’t sit on pallets. Think large boxes, cartons, crates, totes, archive files and other awkward stock. Wide bays of up to 3 metres and depths up to 1.2 metres mean fewer uprights, more usable space and faster picking. Adjustable shelf levels (in 33mm steps) let you reconfigure the bay as your stock changes, and the galvanised finishe keeps it looking good and resisting corrision in everything from stockrooms to cold and damp environments.
Built to fit your space
Every installation is made to measure. Frames are available up to 6 metres high, with depths from 400mm to 1200mm and shelf levels carrying up to 8–kg each (up to 4,800kg per frame), all subject to layout and loading. A full range of accessories, such as:
