For this throwback, we’re revisiting a large-scale Unirack installation completed in Abingdon for DSV Solutions.
The project involved the installation of a substantial storage system designed to support a busy UK distribution operation. With product movement, picking efficiency and storage capacity all playing an important role, the shelving layout needed to make best use of the available space while keeping stock accessible for the team on site.
Unirack was used to create a flexible storage setup across three floor levels, with a mix of shelving bays and sloping bin sections. This gave the client a practical system for storing different product types, helping to support a fast and organised distribution process.
The scale of the installation was significant. Shelving was delivered over a four-week period using 14 articulated lorries, before being installed by a team of eight Advanced Commercial Interiors (our parent company) fitters over eight weeks.
One of the standout features of this project is the sheer consistency of the installation. Row after row of galvanised Unirack shelving was fitted to create long, accessible aisles, with clear product labelling and safety signage incorporated throughout the system.
The finished project provided a robust storage solution for a demanding distribution environment, showing how Unirack can be used at scale for warehouse, stockroom and fulfilment applications.
